Types of Assessment

There are several types of assessment serving different purposes. You need to choose the types of assessments according to the needs of your clients.

Screening Assessment

A brief evaluation for identifying children who are at risk for developing certain disorders or disability.

Focused Assessment

It is a detailed evaluation of a specific area of functioning. It helps you to look for solutions to explain the presenting problems of your clients. Focused assessment is usually used when time and resources are limited.

Diagnostic Assessment

It is a detailed evaluation of a client's strengths and weaknesses in different areas. The purpose for this could be establishing a diagnosis or suggesting directions for interventions.

Counselling and rehabilitation assessment

It focuses on a client's ability to adjust to and successfully fulfill daily responsibilities.

Progress evaluation assessment

It focuses on a client's progress over time for evaluation of his changes in development, skills or abilities and the effectiveness of the interventions.

Curriculum-based assessment

It focuses on assessing a student's performance in academic learning for interventions planning.
