ASSESSMENT WISE
Projective Techniques
Projective techniques are a subset of personality testing in which the examinee is given a simple unstructured task, with a goal of uncovering personality characteristics. Projective techniques have been adopted for a long time, but it the most psychometrically controversial psychological testing technique.
Projective techniques are good as the tasks are disguised and the clients do not know what is being "tested". However, because the interpretations could be quite subjective, the results should only be used as one of the sources of information. Other standardized assessments may need to conduct if the client is found to have some emotional disturbance. These activities could be used as ice-breakers for rapport building as they are interesting.
